Sue & Steve

Sue and Steve have at times in their married life kept a horse, dogs, sheep, chickens, rabbits, guinea pigs and a cockatiel. Sue is a competent and experienced rider having owned her own horse as well as working in a variety of stables. She has also recently had the opportunity to be part of a wild horse drive in America.

Sue has also competed in dog agility for a number of years and was quite successful in this.  Having owned dogs, mostly collies, for nearly 40 years, they decided that when their last dog died in 2018, not to replace him.

During Steve’s employment with Animal Health he regularly completed several courses, these being sheep and cattle handling as well as attending the markets to check on animal welfare. He is aware of common ailments such as fly strike, ringworm and lameness and used to handling farm animals.

I have known Sue as both a friend and work colleague for approximately 12 years.
Sue was the local PCSO for Honiton and I first met her when I worked in the Public Protection Unit (PPU), Exeter for the Devon & Cornwall Police Force.
We were involved in joint management of various dangerous offenders in the Community. In 2017 she joined the D&C Police PPU team, where we continued to work together on many cases.
Sue quickly embedded herself into the team and became a valuable member of a team delivering high frequency and focused management of some very challenging cases.
Sue quickly proved herself able to absorb high caseloads and management profiles.
She possesses good organisational skills, she has the ability to carefully plan & prioritise her workload. She is extremely reliable, a good time keeper & very conscientious in undertaking her work. We worked in a very busy office environment & her attention to detail was of a high standard. She is able to work both as part of a team and also able to work on her own using her initiative to deliver relevant decisions, but also recognising when she needed to consult the advice of others or a supervisor. She has a good sense of humour & is great fun to work with, often picking the team up with her practical and balanced approach to problem solving.
I have no hesitation in recommending her to any potential employer as an employee that will quickly bring value to any team environment by applying the wide range of skill sets she has developed during her career.
My only regret is she is no longer a colleague of ours in the Devon and Cornwall Police !
